super long update

super long update ahead. i started us a blog separate from my silly fashion one just to keep a more detailed journal of our lives (my audience is a bit too big to get personal on the c&c blog anymore) and for any friends and family who want to stay updated. it feels good to write these things down so we can have them for the future.

things are just moving right along for us!
it's a funny time in our lives because we're on the brink of so many big changes, and yet our day to day still looks very much the same as it has for a long time. i still go run the store 11-6 every day (minus cleaning tanning beds, thank goodness for my incredible husband) while david stays upstairs and works his job. it's just weird knowing everything is about to change and still feeling so normal and settled in our lives.

we're at 34 weeks (8.5 months) pregnant and getting even more excited to meet junior.
we finished up our birthing class, got our doula booked, and toured/pre-registered at the hospital. i've had quite a bit of anxiety about delivering at the hospital, but every time i talk to my midwives i feel reassured that they can help me have the kind of experience i want. the head nurse who showed us around the hospital was also really understanding about my (extremely specific) preferences, so that was nice.

right now our little guy is breech and seems to be enjoying hanging out head up. i've been spending time every night doing things to try to help him flip around, but from what i can tell he's not going for it quite yet. i'm not too worried as we've still got 6 more weeks, but my midwife mentioned that we might want to look into doing an external cephalic version if he's not turned around by my appointment this monday. i'm not inclined to do one of those quite yet, so if he's not turned i may be doing some negotiating with her to get more time before we try an intervention.
right now i mostly feel kind of clumsy and slow...but overall, still really good! i don't feel nearly as irritated or impatient as most of the other pregnant women i know seem to be.

other than baby things, we've just been running the store as usual!
david recently got the storage closet all gutted and it looks fantastic. if we were staying longer i'd probably be having a blast converting it into a lounge/office area (kind of like i used to have it as when i was in school). he also rearranged the dressing room area a little bit so it looks way better. we've been putting a little more time into doing little fix-up things around the store lately and it's been so rewarding.  it's good to feel proud of the space we run and to reflect on the (many, many, many) changes we've made over the last 3.5 years.

david got a new motorcycle (a 2009 kawasaki vulcan 1700) that is his new pride and joy. he got it all fixed up with a windshield, sissy bar, and saddle bags and it really looks nice. i wish i could cruise around on it with him! right now it's in our storage unit so it can stay safe from any snow/rain we might get in the next few weeks, although we've had an insanely mild winter and should be good from here on out.
fancy, right?

in awful, sad news, our good friend josh passed away almost 2 weeks ago after battling lymphoma. his wife megan works in our hair salon and we'd become close friends with both of them over the last couple months. josh was only diagnosed in the fall of last year, so it all happened fairly fast. both him and megan were so faithful through the whole ordeal, and our hearts were broken when we heard the news. we were able to get the store covered last saturday to attend his funeral in paul, idaho (about 2.5 hours away from rexburg) and it was a wonderful tribute to josh's life. there were so many people there and there was such a strong spirit present as we all remembered what an incredible life josh lived. lately my sweet friend megan has been on my mind constantly.
