baby things and other things

we've had a fun week doing little things for our baby!
i made an advent calendar with things or treats for us to enjoy every day we're in rexburg in december (up until the 23 when we leave for georgia). on tuesday, our task was to pick out christmas jammies for our little homeboy to wear next year. we found the most perfect, fleecey, red, footie pajamas we ever did see.
they're size 9 mos (he'll be 8 mos. old at christmastime next year) and look HUGE, which was funny because most newborn clothing looks impossibly small to me. we also enjoyed the new chick fil a in idaho falls on our little date, quite a treat!

wednesday morning i had an appointment with a midwife, which i was so excited about. all of my prenatal care so far has been with OBs and i was just...well, done with it. i've seen some really nice doctors, but overall i was just looking forward to getting ready for the kind of birth i've been imagining and hoping for as opposed to the kind of birth doctors say i should have. my midwife turned out to be wonderful and answered all of my questions. i felt so comforted after my appointment. david and i have compromised with a midwife-attended hospital birth (i was gunning for a home birth, but the idea made him nervous), and i was a little apprehensive about what to expect. like i said, i have a very specific idea in my head of the things i do and don't want for my labor and delivery (and a hospital honestly just didn't quite fit in with all that). luckily, the midwife assured me that since this was my body and my baby, we could do things the way i wanted, even in a hospital. i've found some really awesome literature and have enjoyed learning everything i can about labor and delivery, nursing, and infant care.

on wednesday i picked up little cloth diapers from a lady i found on craigslist!
oh gosh, they just kill me, they're so cute. they're sitting on my kitchen table and every time someone comes into my apartment i make them admire them.

i'm 22 weeks and still feeling pretty good. i had some back pain, which is mostly gone, and other than minor temporary aches and pains i feel really great overall. i've definitely gotten bigger just in the last week or two...it feels like overnight, actually!

other than baby things, david and i are doing really well! we're both just working and enjoying our evenings together. we got to listen to elder cook speak at michelle's graduation last night, which was pretty cool! it's awesome to still be in rexburg and able to enjoy all the neat things the university puts on without the stress of finals week...although don't get me wrong, i do still miss being a student from time to time. we went to an incredible christmas show the first weekend in december that fatured brian stokes mitchell (he's a tony award-winning broadway performer...we hadn't heard of him before the concert, though) and a full orchestra and choir. it was such a fun time and a nice date. i wish i'd gotten a picture of us all dressed up together! this morning we went on a little breakfast date (i had to say goodbye to michelle and knew i'd need the cheering up). it's always so nice to just chat and enjoy one another's company. we're still working on selling the store (and learning a little patience in the process). we're really enjoying the snowy days leading up to christmas and looking forward to seeing david's family soon.
